All Stacked Up
This game was created for the GMTK 2024 Jam. Incorporating the theme of “built to scale”, we created a game where you play as a set of Russian dolls that have to stack and unstack in order to navigate their way along a bookshelf.
For this jam I invited my previous co-composer from ‘Styx Hallows’ and ‘The Legend of Ember Lake’, Lewis Richardson to join me, Together we composed three level tracks and a short track for the main menu.
Following our game’s theme of stacking and unstacking we utilised FMOD to create interactive music that faded inn and out an additional layer when the played played as different dolls. For example, in level 2, if you played as the middle-sized doll you would hear the main track and if you unstacked to play as the smallest doll an additional piano melody would fade in, reminiscent of the level 1 music.
Unfortunately, due to some technical issues, the uploaded WebGL only contains one level of gameplay and no audio at all. We hope to fix these issues and upload a full game as intended once the jam voting has concluded. I’ve uploaded linear versions of the looping/interactive music here in order to share our contributions to the project.
